My mythology professor, on the first day of class, immediately started with “The Bible is mythology” and went on for a good portion of the class explaining why.
So, it’s safe to say, that even in an academic sense, mythology isn’t synonymous with “bullshit”. It was used to distance Christianity from other religions, if I’m remembering that correctly.
So, yknow.
Also, I mentioned in the tags as a side note that the bible wasn’t taken entirely literally by ancient christians. The idea that every word is 100% fact and should be treated as such is modern.
