the reason you shouldn’t be doing this is more than the usual “cringe culture is stupid” argument actually allow me to explain.

I’ve been in all these fandoms for about a year now and the people here are young. very young. and a lot of them are mentally ill, I’ve never seen this many people suffering from depression or anxiety in one fanbase before and the reason for this is because they take comfort in these people. a lot of the people I’ve met here watch these guys to help steady or even improve their mental health. to many this is their only source of comfort and happiness.

And then you all have the nerve to make fun of that?

countless of times I’ve seen people make fun of these fans for liking those edgy characters from those cringy and idiotic youtubers. to the point where I’ve had actual friends of mine leave or hide that they like this stuff on their Tumblr because they don’t want to be made fun of. and hey, perhaps hear me out a little.
they’re all very positive influences on their audience. I’m not just saying this as someone who likes them, they know that their fanbase is mostly made of teenagers with mental health issues and act on this. jack started a whole movement with PMA (positive mental attitude) by encouraging everyone to help each other and continuously enforce positive thinking and self care which has actually helped people. thomas’ fanbase gets a lot of shit for shipping the sides which I mean, I get it its kinda weird not gonna lie. but his videos with these characters often deal with serious topics like fitting in, anxiety, how hard it is to move on, in a light hearted and fun tone fitted for his audience.

also you don’t need to remind us that its cringy, we know. fuck man jack himself once said “yeah its kinda cringy I’m a guy pretending to be a demon but thats the fun!” so we know! we’re being stupid but since when has being a bit silly ever been bad?
